Wayward Bunka
Made by Jason’s son Kamui:
The Wayward Bunka is a Japanese-inspired kitchen knife designed for everyday food preparation. Hand-forged from 80CrV2, it draws from the Japanese Bunka’s versatile profile while intentionally stepping away from strict traditional lines. The name Wayward reflects that deviation; blending Eastern influence with Western characteristics.
The 7 ½″ (12” overall) blade offers excellent board control and cutting efficiency, well suited for vegetables, proteins, and general prep work. Sharpened by hand on Japanese whetstones, the edge is tuned for clean slicing. A rambutan wood handle with an ebony centerpiece provides a comfortable grip with a warm finish.
Built as a true kitchen mule, the Wayward Bunka is meant to be used daily, developing a natural patina over time that reflects its life in the kitchen.
